New 8 Week Spring Session!

Free and Easy Wanderer:

Spring Yoga with Julie
APRIL 20th - JUNE 8th 2015
A Flowing, Mindful Yin Yoga practice for all levels
MONDAYS 7:00 - 8:30pm
Spring time is wood time, the element associated with the Liver and Gallbladder energies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This is the time of year where we experience the most new growth in the external world and a lot of strong internal shifting of energies which if blocked may manifest as increased irritability, headaches, digestive upsets or neck and shoulder stiffness.  The ability to remain flexible while maintaining a strong creative vision for our future,  in other words, the ability to “go with the flow”  is the hallmark of a healthy Wood Element- hence the term Free and Easy Wanderer that is associated with a healthy Wood Element.
This spring, join Julie a licensed Acupuncturist, and experienced yoga teacher for a slow flowing practice inspired by the energies of the Spring Season.  Our practice will incorporate yin yoga with some long held postures to release deep seated tensions and restore energy that can be dissipated in our lives through stress and busyness.  There will be a  focus on spinal flexibility, liver and digestive health, back, neck and shoulder tension relief, and opening to new creative possibilities.

ALCHEMICAL YOGA + INTUITIVE WRITING WORKSHOP

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 23RD, 2014
12:00 - 3:00pm

with Julie Gladstone R.Ac, CYT, BFA

LOTUS YOGA CENTRE 100 Harbord St. Toronto, ON

INNER SENSING MEDITATIONS
INTUITIVE WRITING
INTRODUCTION TO THE CHAKRA SYSTEM
HATHA YOGA + YIN YOGA

Within our physical and emotional being lies hidden energy, wisdom, love, power and other gifts waiting to be discovered. Our mysterious physical and emotional symptoms such as constriction, tightness, tension, anxiety, discomfort, feelings of mild depression or fear may be trying to communicate something important about the state of our wholeness and wellness.
Through Yoga postures, Alchemical meditation practices, and free writing time, we will move through the Chakra system and explore the central questions, emotional resonances and physical holding patterns of each one such as identity, stability, will, sensuality, creativity, power, motivation, love, connection vulnerability, expression, communication, vision and intuition.
These practices are designed to uncover the hidden information contained within our fascia, muscles and cells and in our energetic centres (chakras). This practice of transformation and integration is an expression of the Alchemical practice of transforming Lead into Gold.
As a culture we have spent a lot of time developing our mental faculties, and we tend to spend the majority of our lives living in our heads, trying to figure things out logically. As a result we often miss the important messages our body’s are trying to communicate. This disconnect can be the root of feelings of anxiety, unease and mild depression.
Alchemical Yoga helps us to to reveal more information about our body's holding patterns and to begin a new process of relating and communication between the conscious and subconscious aspects of our being.
This workshop provides an opportunity to foster deeper relationship between the rational and the intuitive aspects of our being and to foster a way of being that is more compassionate, accepting, energetic and grounded.

OPEN TO ALL LEVELS

6:00 - 7:15pm

Whether we experience neck or shoulder tension, back pain, tightness in the hips, or knots in our stomach, tension is an expression of our bound up energy, and it is full of creative, life affirming potential waiting to be revealed.  Alchemical yoga, invites us to discover and honour the gold and intuitive wisdom held within the lead of our physical being.  In a culture that teaches us to numb sensation, and mask symptoms with painkillers, this practice invites us to change our relationship with difficult sensations and invite a compassionate inquiry, to pay attention to the root of holding patterns and ultimately to honour our self and bodies as our allies in life.  Through mindful attention, inquiry, curiosity, compassionate listening, and yogic postures, we will discover where we hold our energy into patterns of tension, and discover ways to release and flow to experience more physical and emotional freedom and creative flow.
